Communication Matrix

How to handle questions and concerns within WBSD7

At Williston Basin School District #7, we value open and respectful communication between families and staff. To help ensure questions and concerns are addressed efficiently and at the right level, the Communication Matrix was created as an update to what was previously known as the “Chain of Command”.

We understand it can be frustrating when you're redirected after reaching out for help. Our goal is to make it easier for parents and guardians to know where to start, so concerns can be resolved quickly and effectively. Often, the best first step is to contact the staff member most directly involved, such as your child’s teacher or coach.

Each situation should begin with the person closest to the matter, with the option to move up through the levels of communication if additional support is needed.

Below, you’ll find the recommended order for addressing concerns. Please begin with the first contact listed; if necessary, your message will be elevated to the next level.

If you are unable to contact the staff member listed, the easiest way to communicate for specific departments is to submit our Comments and Inquiry form or email communications@willistonschools.org, and the Communications Department will assist in routing your concerns appropriately.

Please refer to the matrix below to address questions or concerns. Issues should be addressed beginning at Step 1.
If the issue cannot be resolved, it is appropriate to move to the next step with the inquiry.
